This business is my personal project, with the help of loved ones, to share my creations with the world.
The name Yarn Wolf Creations is a reference to my last name being Wolf as well as my genuine love of wolves, combined with the fact that working with yarn is one of my favourite things to do. The idea of a wolf made of yarn is really cute and evocative of what I do, so it seemed like a great choice for my business.
Yarn Wolf Creations has no physical location outside of craft markets, but I have an online storefront where all of my crocheted products are available. My artwork is also available as prints on various products through RedBubble.
My mission is to spread joy and happiness, one crochet creation or illustration at a time!
I'm Kit Wolf, a 28-year-old artist from the Brockville, Ontario area with a passion for crochet and illustration. I’m nonbinary; my pronouns are they/them. I’m also autistic, and I see the world in a unique way that fuels my creativity.
Early Life
When I was 5 years old, my mum taught me to crochet alongside my older siblings. I have always been an avid learner, with a special interest in crochet and visual art. I was drawing since I could hold a pencil, and I’ve always enjoyed dabbling in different crafts.
Crochet is a comfort activity for me. I love to crochet, and I get restless when I haven’t worked on a project for a while. The same restless feeling comes when I don’t create visual art.
Art Education
For my adolescence, I was homeschooled by my mum who ran a quilting and knitting shop in a small town, where I learned many of my creative pursuits.
I took my first formal art classes in high school, earning Subject Awards for both visual arts and media arts.
After graduating high school, I went on to take several Fine Arts classes in my three years at St Lawrence College, Brockville.
After graduating college, I started this business to turn my passion into a living.
The main thing that defines me as an artist is my unique outlook as an autistic, nonbinary person with a lifelong passion to create artwork and objects of beauty.
